Elberadweg Bad Schandau - Magdeburg Sprint
Be impressed by the beauty of the Elberadweg! First, you cycle through the Elbsandsteingebirge. A highlight is the saxon metropolis Dresden with its world-famous worth seeing things. You cycle through vineyards to Meißen which is famous for its porcelain. After Lutherstadt Wittenberg you reach Dessau. Then you cycle through the garden area Dessau-Wörlitz and through a biosphere reserve and reach the 1200-year-old city Magdeburg. Here Otto von Guericke was mayor and made his famous Halbkugelversuch. He discovered the vacuum. Visit the monastery “Unserer Lieben Frauen” and Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s last project – the „Grüne Zitadelle“.
Day 1: Individual arrival at Bad Schandau
Explore Bad Schandau! Visit the fort Königstein and the bastion. The view over the Elbsandsteingebirge is overwhelming.
Day 2: Bad Schandau – Meißen (about 83 km)
Along the saxon wine street you cycle to the metropolis Dresden. Then you cycle to the Karl-May-city Radebeul. In the downtown there is a villa where Karl May spend his last years before he died. You can see here steam engines, too. Your today’s destination is Meißen. It is famous for its porcelain. Discover the old town, the Albrechtsburg, the cathedral or the porcelain manufacture.
Day 3: Meißen – Torgau (about 76 km)
After Meißen you can expect a varied landscape. Wineries like Schloss Proschwitz line your way. Then you cycle through Riesa and Strehla to Belgern where the only Roland of Saxony is situated. Your today’s destination is Torgau. Visit the Schloss Hartenfels with the museum and castle church, the Marienkirche with the grave of Katharina von Bora and the monument of the allies.
Day 4: Torgau – Dessau (about 110 km)
Through unique landscapes you cycle through Dommitzsch and Elster to Lutherstadt Wittenberg which is famous because of Martin Luther’s theses. Enjoy the nature at the garden area Dessau-Wörlitz before you reach Dessau. This is your today’s destination. The city is characterized by a modern cityscape.
Day 5: Dessau – Magdeburg (about 80 km)
Today you pass some nature reserves. Your today’s destination and the end of your tour is Magdeburg. It has a lot of worth seeing things. They show the varied history of this 1200-year-old city. Visit the cathedral and have a look at Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s last project.
