Elberadweg Cuxhaven - Magdeburg

Start your tour at the north sea resort Cuxhaven and cycle through the national park Wadden Sea and “Altes Land”. Here you can find Europe´s largest fruit-growing-area. Unique conditions for all bicycle enthusiasts are given in Hamburg. Besides the amazing river landscape you cycle through a lot of worth seeing cities like the picturesque city Lauenburg and the imperial city Tangermünde. Enjoy the UNESCO biosphere reserve “Flusslandschaft Elbe”. Here the Elbe is still close to the nature. Your destination is the 1200-year-old city Magdeburg. It is the third greenest city in Germany. Here you can visit for example Friedensreich Hundertwasser´s last project.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Cuxhaven
Your tour starts at the north sea resort Cuxhaven which is the top of the Elbe-Weser-Dreieck. Enjoy the unadulterated nature and the Wadden Sea.

Day 2: Cuxhaven – Glückstadt (about 61 km)
You were accompanied by dykes, thatched houses and the wide of the Wadden Sea on your way to Glückstadt. At the port you can try the “seegekehlten” and “seegesalzten” matie.

Day 3: Glückstadt – Hamburg (about 68 km)
You cycle at this lap through the idyll of the “Altes Land” to Hamburg. Make a city tour or discover the historic warehouse city by boat.

Day 4: Hamburg – Lauenburg (about 55 km)
Today you cycle on the Elbdamm through many little towns until you reach Lauenburg. This picturesque place is a typical skipper city at the old salt street.

Day 5: Lauenburg – Hitzacker (about 55 km)
Pure nature is the motto of the day. A few kilometres in front of Hitzacker you reach Rassau. There is the Stixer Wanderdüne which was formed about 10.000 years ago. Your today´s destination is Hitzacker whidh is a romantic old town isle with pretty half-timbered houses.

Day 6: Hitzacker – Wittenberge (about 70 km)
You cycle through valuable biotopes. You pass Wahrenberg which is geographically the first village in Saxony-Anhalt. Wittenberge is your todays´s destination.

Day 7: Wittenberge – Havelberg (about 38 km)
Today you can expect a scenic attractive route. If you hear the typical rattle of the storks you reach Rühstädt. Then you cycle to Havelberg. Enjoy the magnificently view from the Domplatz over the city.

Day 8: Havelberg – Tangermünde (about 54 km)
At this lap you cycle through dreamy villages. The Elbtal is far manageable. There, where the Tangen flow in the Elbe is the city Tangermünde. This imperial city has a beautiful old town core. You reached your today´s destination.

Day 9: Tangermünde – Magdeburg (about 68 km)
Old ruins and stork nests line up like pearls along the Elbe. You reach your today’s destination Magdeburg.

Day 10: Magdeburg, departure or extension
At 11 o’clock we invite you to a city tour through the 1200-year-old Magdeburg. Worth seeing things are for example the Hundertwasserhaus, the romanesque monastery and the numerous parks which make the city to the third greenest city of Germany. Individual departure or extension.
