Elberadweg Dresden - Hamburg
You were accompanied by the Elbe on your way. It flows straight through Germany. You cycle past floodplains, nature reserves and vineyards. Numerous worth seeing things are waiting for your visit. You pass three large cities: Dresden, Magdeburg and Hamburg. You start your tour in Dresden. There you can visit the Semperoper, the Zwinger or the rebuilt Frauenkirche. Through romantic vineyards, Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Dessau you reach Magdeburg. In the middelage, the 1200-year-old city was mentioned in one breath with Rome. Through the imperial city Tangermünde, dreamy villages and pretty half-trimbered houses you reach Hamburg. Here the Elbe become a powerful river.
Day 1: Individual arrival at Dresden
Welcome to Dresden! Be impressed by the rebuilt Frauenkirche, the Zwinger or the Semperoper.
Day 2: Dresden – Meißen (about 40 km)
You cycle through the Karl-May-city Radebeul to Meißen. Visit the Albrechtsburg and the porcelain manufacture!
Day 3: Meißen – Riesa (about 28 km)
Today you can expect a varied landscape with wineries. You reach your today’s destination Riesa which was the steel metropolis of Saxony.
Day 4: Riesa- Torgau (about 48 km)
Today you cycle through little pretty villages to your today’s destination Torgau. Here the allied troops met in 1945.
Day 5: Torgau – Lutherstadt Wittenberg (about 65 km)
You cycle through unique floodplains. Your today’s destination is Lutherstadt Wittenberg which is famous as the cradle of reformation in Germany.
Day 6: Lutherstadt Wittenberg – Dessau (about 45 km)
You cycle through the garden area of Wörlitz which is a romantic plant with isles, channels and temples. Your today’s destination is Dessau. In the 1920’s it was the meeting point of Bauhaus artists.
Day 7: Dessau – Schönebeck/Barby (about 55 km)
Today you cycle through the lealand and Elbmeadows. You reach the village Pretzien with its weir and romanesque church. Your today’s destination is Schönebeck. Visit the brine spa!
Day 8: Schönebeck/Barby – Magdeburg (about 25 km)
You cycle through the nature reserve Kreuzhorst to Magdeburg. This is your today’s destination. The 1200-year-old city is the heart of the “Straße der Romanik”.
Day 9: Magdeburg – Tangermünde (about 68 km)
Through the Herrenkrugpark you cycle past the impressive waterway crossing. Your today’s destination is the imperial city Tangermünde.
Day 10: Tangermünde – Havelberg (about 54 km)
A few kilometres in front of Werben you have to take the ferry to get on the other shore. Then you nearly have reached your today’s destination Havelberg.
Day 11: Havelberg – Wittenberge (about 38 km)
Today you see wide landscapes and the village of the storks Rühstädt. Your today’s destination is Wittenberge with Europe´s largest clock tower.
Day 12: Wittenberge – Hitzacker (about 70 km)
Today you cycle through Wahrenberg and Gorleben to Hitzacker. Your today’s destination is an isle with pretty half-timbered houses.
Day 13: Hitzacker – Lauenburg (about 55 km)
Today you pass Bleckede. It is a town at the “Storchenstraße”. Your today’s destination is the picturesque town Lauenburg.
Day 14: Lauenburg – Hamburg 8about 55 km)
You cycle on the Elbdeich through the Luneburg Heath. Your today’s destination is the metropolis Hamburg. Individual departure or extension.
