Elberadweg Dresden - Magdeburg

This tour leads you parallel to the Elbe from city to city. Many places on your way have a varied history. Start your tour in Dresden and cycle through the city of porcelain - Meißen to Lutherstadt Wittenberg which is famous as the cradle of reformation in Germany. Then you cycle through Dessau and the UNESCO biosphere reserve “Mittlere Elbe” to Magdeburg.

Day 1: Individual arrival at Dresden
Welcome to Dresden! Discover a lot of world-famous worth seeing things like the Semperoper or the Zwinger or the Frauenkirche. Experience the way of life in Saxony!

Day 2: Dresden – Meißen (about 40 km)
At first you cycle to the Karl-May-city Radebeul. You can make an indirection to Altkötzschenborda. From far away you can see the silhouette of the Albrechtsburg at Meißen. Discover the cathedral, the old town and the porcelain manufacture!

Day 3: Meißen – Riesa ( about 28 km)
Today you can expect romantic vineyards and beautiful landscapes. You cycle for example through traditional wine villages. Your today’s destination is Riesa. It was once a steel metropolis.

Day 4: Riesa – Torgau (about 48 km)
You follow the Elbe through a lot of pretty villages to Belgern. Visit the marketplace with the 20 feet high Roland and be impressed by the Postmeilensäule from 1730. Your today’s destination is Torgau.

Day 5: Torgau – Lutherstadt Wittenberg (about 65 km)
Unique landscapes line your way. You cycle through Dommitzsch and Pretzsch to Prettin with its Schloss Lichtenburg. Then you reach your today’s destination Lutherstadt Wittenberg. Discover Martin Luther’s traces!

Day 6: Lutherstadt Wittenberg – Dessau (about 45 km)
Today you cycle through the garden area Dessau-Wörlitz. Here you can make a picnic. Your today’s destination is Dessau. Visit its castles!

Day 7: Dessau – Schönebeck/Barby (about 55 km)
Today you cycle through the biosphere reserve “Mittlere Elbe”. Maybe you have luck and see a beaver! Make a break at the weir of Pretzien. Your today’s destination is Schönebeck. Visit the good maintained Gradierwerk, make a walk through the park or relax at the brine spa!

Day 8: Schönebeck/Barby – Magdeburg (about 25 km)
You cycle through the nature reserve Kreuzhorst to Magdeburg which is the end of your tour. Experience the history of Magdeburg and its cathedral, monastery and Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s last project - the “Grüne Zitadelle”.
